Here's a bit of my story behind the brand. I’m Italian–Japanese Brazilian born but lived most of my life in London 🇬🇧 and have been working as an art director for social change for at least 14 years now.
My background is in graphic design so launching a fashion brand was never on my radar. But similar to many women in the creative industry, for years I’ve worked really hard 👩🏽💻. Being a Latino trying to work my way up in a predominant male-dominated sector was pretty tough. I’ve thought I simply had to accept all projects that came my way. So basically, I had a full-time job as an art director during the day and freelance work at night. I was sleeping 4–5 hours a night for at least 7 years without a break. Then the break came… My health broke into pieces😱. After experiencing the detrimental health impacts of overwork and a lack of sleep, I decided to put my creative energy into establishing a better alternative. One that facilitates and champions taking the time to rest, to embrace comfort and slowness, and to be present in the now.
In December 2018, I launched a sleepwear and loungewear brand to bring this concept to life. Prior to the launch, I might have visited at least 50 manufactures and met most of all suppliers of organic fabrics in Europe. Creating a slow-living brand has been a labour of love. This is about more than clothes and products to me; it’s about a lifestyle that allows people to stop, relax and be in the moment. My main intention is to raise the awareness of the importance of centering ourselves in a non-stop world.
I still work hard… but I’ve finally learnt how to balance life better by allocating time every day to have fun and to relax as well. Okay, at least I try! 😉
