Our Sustainability Manifesto

Our Sustainability Manifesto

PURPOSE AND VISION

We believe sustainability starts from within. When we’re well-rested we make better decisions on how we consume and relate to others.

Leticia Credidio is the antidote to busyness and overwork. And we believe fashion that helps you sleep beautifully should be made in a beautiful way.

As a modern business, we go against the trend of fast fashion. Our products are made to stand the test of time. They’re designed in East London and handmade by women-led ateliers in Italy and in London. Both places respect those who work there with good working conditions and fair wages. And we know all the women who make our products and include their names in our labels.

At Leticia Credidio, we're forever inspired by the natural world, so the way we make our products always aims to protect it. This ethos is the foundation of everything we do. And it's something we'll always stay true to. Our products are vegan and cruelty-free, organic certified and allergy-free.

PURPOSE AND VISION

ENVIRONMENT

Our founder Leticia Credidio is also an Art Director for social change and has been working with some of the world’s leading NGOs including the Greenpeace, WWF, PDSA, RSPCA Australia and UK and Unicef for over 15 years. She’s a winner of the PETA Awards Designer to Watch. Knowing the wrong doings of the fashion industry to the environment and to animals, it was an early decision to move away from the pace, toxicity and massive production of fast fashion.

The selection of our traceable fabrics is one of the main cores of our business. By being traceable and certified we know for sure that our supply chain does not participate in slavery, child labour, animal cruelty and production that releases chemicals in our planet.

made at a small family run atelier in Italy in Emilia Romagna and all seamstresses work full-time and are registered and paid fairly according to the Italian and European labour law and standards.

Our Before Sleeping Candle and its packing are fully produced in East London. Our Meditation Pillow is crocheted with love by Leticia Credidio’s auntie who decided to retire after working for several years in a stressful position for the pharmaceutical industry. The Pillow’s filling is made with upcycled and discarded materials and also produced in East London by Leticia Credidio sister-in-law.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND OUR LABEL

OUR BODY AND MIND

Being sustainable is actually the only way to build a brand and products. Sustainability is the core of our brand sleepwear/loungewear brand as we believe it starts from within. When we’re relaxed and well-rested we simply don’t go around being horrible to people nor causing more pollution in the environment buying things that we don’t need to make us feel good.

As our brand mission is to unleash the power of sleep – we aim to drive change as many people suffer the effects of lack of sleep, mental health and anxiety. We often engage our local community, including photographers, mums, fashion designers and artists to share their experience with the detrimental effects of the lack of sleep.

Our skin gets affected by toxic fabrics and chemical dyes and can react in forms of allergy or even dermatitis. We never use polyester nor nylon as these damage our skin, our oceans and water we drink. Our fabric selection is always natural and our Ocean collection is made with sustainable seaweed. The substances found in seaweed help to activate cell regeneration, which in turn can help to relieve skin diseases, reduce inflammation and soothe itchiness. Its high level of antioxidants protects the skin against harmful free radicals, which damage our skin cells.

Our promise is also to move away from negativity and to be a force of good on social media. We aim to instruct and to promote people’s physical and mental wellbeing.

PACKAGING AND BRAND MATERIALS

Our branding is designed and produced in-house. Our packaging is made with eco paper and printing process, recycled carboards and upcycled fabric.

Our garments and candle come wrapped in beautiful fabric bags which can be reused over and over again. These bags are made with discarded fabrics that were collected from a recycling point in East London or leftovers of our production. Our candle bags are made with old bedsheets and screen printed with natural ink in East London.

PACKAGING AND BRAND MATERIALS

HAND-ME-UP SCHEME

We aim to be as circular as possible so we’ve created a Hand-me-up scheme that allows customers to return the garments purchased from us. If after many wears people decide to grow apart one of our garments we’ll accept it back and offer 25% off on a next purchase with us. The idea is for us to upclycle our pre-loved sleep/loungewear and resell them at a lower rate. We’ll clean, amend if necessary and treat the returned garment so more people can enjoy it. This way it won’t reach our planet’s landfills. The only condition is that the garment(s) need to be more than 3 years old.
